Hello Digital Drift listeners, my new new web series is now available and live on Patreon. I’ll need all the help I can get convincing total strangers of the quality of my work so as many of you as possible who know what I can really do should be there. Here’s what I’ll be telling them…
In late 2013 I published The Cartographer’s Handbook as the start of a series called New Century. It is the opening act of an alternate sci fi history set in America in the years following the civil war. It is available on Kindle and I produced an accompanying audio drama with a full cast and a wonderful soundtrack.
But I don’t want to stop there. This is being put together with a grand scope for adaptation. What this Patreon will support is New Century’s ongoing release as a multi-season web series for YouTube. I will be blending vintage photography and reference materials, contemporary art and imagery with effective, moving vocal performances and music to create an extraordinarily convincing vision of a history that never was.
If successful, this Patreon will make it possible for me to write a second season and continue the web series, potentially with higher production values.
In case you’re not familiar with Patreon it’s like an ongoing Kickstarter. Rather than aiming for a lump sum goal for a single project it’s a way for people to support artists as they work. You can donate what you want, when you want and get special bonuses for doing so.
Supporting the web series will get you on the community feed for all production updates. Episodes will be released weekly and patrons can get to see them seven days before the general public. You can also take part in live streaming Q&A sessions, get hold of the complete audio drama and ebook, and gain access to a growing selection of exclusive content.

New Century, especially in this visually arresting form is something I’ve been planning and crafting for years. I really want to bring it to as many people as possible and the next few days really will be the proving ground. Possibly the most important moment of my professional career.
This project will live and die based on community support and that always works best in these situations when someone already has an existing community.
